Printing problems - printing off the top edge of paper
I have a printer (HP LaserJet 2100M) connected to a (red hat *cough*) Linux Samba Server. I have had it in this configuration for years. I have a SuSE 8.2 desktop box that is configured to print to that printer. Everything works perfectly, every time. I have a SuSE 9.0 notebook configured to print to that printer. It worked fine... until about a month ago. I didn't (that I remember) make any changes to the configuration. It may have happened after an online update, but I don't know. paper = US Letter all configurations are set to the correct settings. Correct printer. Correct paper. Correct tray. Correct everything. I've gone through the printer configuration, on both ends about 5 times looking for an error. The page is bring printed (from this machine ONLY) about an inch off the top of the page. Now, IF I print from OpenOffice, it prints perfectly. If I print from ANYTHING that going through LPR, it prints off the top edge. Could there be a setting in a config file that's throwing me off? Is there something that I'm missing? Is there something stupid that I did to cause this? jody -- http://www.RealizationSystems.com/ -- start communicating http://www.GalacticSlacker.com/ -- read it and weep http://www.NMPerspective.com/ -- a Southwest Perspective

Jody, 1st. do this as root: # lppasswd -a root 2nd. Use http://127.0.0.1:631 and adjust with the CUPS menu. 3rd. Drink root beer and relax. Dee
Still have not found a solution to this. All test print perfectly while doing print configuration, but printing from any app that spools through LPD offsets off the top of the page. Only tests (both YaST and CUPS) and OpenOffice.org print correctly (and perfectly). Is there anyway I could have screwed up the lpr/lpd configuration? Is there anything else that I could have set an offset in? Help me! jody Jody Harris wrote:

First please don't top post. Open up kprinter, select your printer and click on properties. Make any adjustments there and make sure you save them. This should solve your problem with the incorrect top margin. Ken

all settings are correct. margins are set to the defaults. test page prints off the top. (This is the only test page that prints off of the top of the page.) jody -- http://www.RealizationSystems.com/ -- start communicating http://www.GalacticSlacker.com/ -- read it and weep http://www.NMPerspective.com/ -- a Southwest Perspective
