MB Asus A7N8x- deluxe with Silicon Image® Sil 3112A Controller with 2 ports Support RAID 0/1
2 gigabite harrdrive seagate 120 mb in s-ata raid
Under win xp the raid is ok, under suse 9.1 i am unable to install the os.... please help
Write to the list, I am no good at this topic myself, I am trying to learn from your experince. I dont even have the hardware required to hack into this. Sorry.

the problem is that most ata/sata 'raid' controllers are not true raid controllers. all of the actual raid work is done in (windows only) drivers. in effect, it's the same as setting up software raid in linux. the only company that i know of that makes fully functional (hardware) raid controllers for ata/sata is 3ware. if you've already partitioned the drives and set up the raid container in windows, i'm not sure what you can do. -- trey
