[dual-boot pc running MS Win ME + SuSE 8.0 + KDE 3.0 + apache1 + public_html] When running KDE, I can browse localhost (127.0.0.1, 127.0.0.2) for server access, public_html and wwwoffle(port 8080) with Konqueror. However, if I use Mozilla, it prepends "www." to localhost and complains that it cannot access that address. I wish to run Moz as I am looking into XML. (Does Konq support XML? It doesn't seem to display correctly XML doc + CSS doc) Is there any way to fix this in Mozilla? Or should I use Netscape (with all the additional/unrequired features) or another browser that supports java/javascript/xml etc. TIA Mick Higgins

Mozilla should work; just point it to "http://localhost/". If it prepends the "www" is because it can not find that address and automatically it tries some combinations to check for easy mispells. If you type it as above and it fails, your name server is not correct. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
Carlos,
The server must be correct as browsing to http://localhost works fine in Konq.
I have also tried Netsc[r]ape Nav' 7 and that works fine too.
Apparently I also need to set the browser from HTTP 1.1 to 1.0 for wwwoffle and
there does not seem to be a "preference" in Moz'.
Is it possible that I need to upgrade Moz' (currently installed from SuSE 8.0
CD) or install the dev. packages?
However, the point of this discussion is support for XML. On Win ME IE 5.5
supports XML and Moz' is supposed to too. But Konq currently does not.

Maybe. But type the ending slash like "http://localhost/", as I told you.

I don't have wwwoffle, but the "preferences" in Mozilla is under "Edit" menu.

I don't know. I have version 1.0.1 from Suse 8.1
CD) or install the dev. packages?

That, I do not know. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
