Is anyone doing PC Direct or other Satellite connection to the internet using Linux? Still working on my qwest to get away from Qwest... Clint
a friend in our local lug got a satellite connection and of course the device they gave him was usb and only had windows drivers, but he did some poking around on it and it turns out the usb plug was just a usb to ethernet adapter plugged into an ethernet port on the device. he took that off, hooked up his linux box via ethernet and away he went. one thing he did do that made a big difference was setup a caching dns server. seems as though the udp traffic wasnt working to well off the satellite connection. Thanks. I have considered bying into it. The satellite system is reasonably priced and $30 a month for the service and there may even be better deals out there. Do you know who your friend went with and could you have him contact me via email? Would appreciate it. Clint dog@intop.net wrote:
