[opensuse] gnome-screensaver under XFCE
Hi Problem: The xscreensaver that comes with 12.1 doesn't support Kerberos 5 Possible solution: gnome-screensaver which comes with Ubuntu does unlock with your Kerberos credetials. Try that with 12.1? What I've done: Install gnome-screensaver using yast cd /usr/bin mv xscreensaver xscreensaver.bak ln -s gnome-screensaver xscreensaver No surprize, now the screensaver dialogue in XFCE Settings Manager doesn't work. Starting gnome-screensaver gives: ** (gnome-screensaver:5232): WARNING **: Couldn't get presence status: The name org.gnome.SessionManager was not provided by any .service files Questions 1. Is it possible configure gnome-screensaver under XFCE (without installing most of Gnome)? 2. Any other ideas? Hi can't really answer your question, but a search on google for "installing gnome-screensaver" brought this link: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/view/cvs/gnome/gnome-screensaver.html Maybe it helps Karl -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Maybe it helps Karl Hi. Thanks for that. Unfortunately still no go.
Yast has added this: cat /etc/pam.d/gnome-screensaver # SuSE/Novell auth include common-auth #auth optional pam_gnome_keyring.so account include common-account password include common-password session include common-session I've also tried uncommenting the keyring line. The Yast Kerberos client created this: cat /etc/krb5.conf [libdefaults] default_realm = HH3.SITE dns_lookup_realm = false dns_lookup_kdc = true allow_weak_crypto = true clockskew = 300 [domain_realm] .hh3.site = HH3.SITE [realms] HH3.SITE = { kdc = 192.168.1.3 default_domain = hh3.site admin_server = 192.168.1.3 } [appdefaults] pam = { ticket_lifetime = 1d renew_lifetime = 1d forwardable = true proxiable = false minimum_uid = 1 external = sshd use_shmem = sshd } And edited the krb5 stuff here: cat /etc/pam.d/common-auth | grep -v '#' auth required pam_env.so auth optional pam_gnome_keyring.so auth sufficient pam_unix2.so auth sufficient pam_krb5.so use_first_pass auth required pam_deny.so Ubuntu (which does work) has this: cat common-auth | grep -v '#' auth required pam_env.so auth optional pam_gnome_keyring.so auth sufficient pam_unix2.so auth required pam_krb5.so Changing the open SUSE to match this Ubuntu file makes matters worse. No one can authenticate via Kerberos. The same question on the MIT Kerberos list has also drawn a blank so far. Could I open a bugzilla for this?
