Single processor detected as double processor
Hi, I install SuSE 9.0 Pro in my server, it only has 1 P4 3 Ghz, with memory 1Gb. But after I install, in /proc/cpuinfo shows there are 2 processor, and the kernel using 2.4.21-smp. It makes my server runs really slow. Why does it happen, how can I fix it ? Is it save to uninstall the kernel and reinstall it with kernel 2.4.21 default (for single processor) ? Hyper Threading. It is OK that way. It is strange it is slow. I've a 2.4.24 SMP kernel on a P4 2.4 and it runs smooth.

I think you're talking about a facility, not a bug - it's called
HYPERTHREADING
Also, I think you should just UPGRADE your smp kernel using Yast Online
