[opensuse] Small applet to check email
Hi guys, Can you suggest a small applet type application that will check an Outlook box for new messages and allert me visually. I have tried Evolution but that does not seem to work, and I do not have sound working so I need something small and visual. I am using KDE. TIA. What exactly do you mean by Outlook box? Try mail-notification - it's in GNOME:Community but it uses the Freedesktop notification area standard and should work fine in KDE. -- James Ogley james@usr-local-bin.org http://usr-local-bin.org GNOME for openSUSE: http://software.opensuse.org/download/GNOME:/ Help end poverty: http://oxfam.org.uk/in -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Hello George, you can send KMail to Control tray. Setup KMail -> Appearance (Third fom above)-> System area (Last Tab right side) -> always Show KMail in Control tray (Ceckbox). It shows an Icon with the mew Messages you received. Otherwise, there is a Prog called KOrn who could do what you want. I don't use it anymore, because KMail does have this notification feature. In my KDE menu (KDE -> System -> Desktop Applet) is an entry for an "Email monitor" called KBiff. I haven't used it and don't know exactly what it can do, but you might want to check it out.

Thank you for the suggestions, I will give Kmail a try or all of the
other if that does not work.
James: I meant and MS Exchange server, sorry, I have been accused of
thinking to many things at the same time and saying nothing before ...
:)
