[opensuse] WiMax?
Has anyone here tinkered with WiMax in Linux? I am considering a move to somewhere where the main Internet access is 1Mbps WiMax... trying to do all my research ahead of time. I don't know yet which specific hardware the ISPs use yet... working on that. Basically I'm just wondering if anyone has had any experience good/bad with WiMax and Linux.... and comments etc. C. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Kerne 2.6.29, which adds WiMax support, was released yesterday. So don't expect much support for WiMax in any released version of OpenSUSE. And probably most people, which are using WiMax, are developers . -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Well, if this move actually happens, it won't be for a while... so I've got time to build my own 2.6.29 kernel :-) I did find a project that is working on the WiMax drivers for Linux... can't really test it out since WiMax isn't available in DE. I'm a WiMax subscriber, In our case, the equipment (antenna) provided by the ISP has an ethernet port where you connect your computer and define that antenna as you default gateway, there's no special device configuration on your side.
