good to see it released for SuSE 8.1 i have several questions about this event: 1. will GNOME 2.2 appear built for SuSE 8.1 then ? -- there was a discussion about it that the only reason of its absence was its dependency on font-config, which seems to be fixed now. and 2. -- where did fetchmsfonts go? i remember that when MS pulled away their ttf fonts from there website, this utility was kinda 'disabled', but these fonts are still available at corefonts.sf.net! Why, then, the cabextract utility was supplied with the new XFree packages?

MS in their wisdom decided Linux users didn't deserve the fonts, so MS claimed they were being abused and so pulled them from their download page. They should be up on Sourceforge however, but could not provide a link as sourceforge is claiming high load. Matt
I have one question... if XFree86 4.3 has been released as RPMs for SuSE 8.1, where are they?? They don't show up in YOU. I checked the XFree86.org site and can't find them there. They don't show up as available via apt-get either. Where is everyone getting them from?? Rick On Tue, 2003-03-04 at 10:38, Vitaly Shishakov wrote:

Is a 2.4.20 available from SuSE (somewhere), or are you referring to the vanilla kernel? -- Andrea Negro andrea@alessandria.linux.it ICQ 25458773

Well, I think the path tells you what you need to know. These packages were built for 8.1 and that in and of itself can cause quite a few issues..or I would assume so.
I know, I was surprised to see it came as far as it did ... The kde 3.1 rpms from 8.0 do work really nice with 7.3 though (as they do provide AA , which the 7.3 rpms do not ;) ) Currently listening to: Roger Waters - 5.01 AM (The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking) Gerhard, <@jasongeo.com> == The Acoustic Motorbiker == -- __O Standing above the crowd, he had a voice so strong and loud =`\<, we'll miss him (=)/(=) Ranting and pointing his finger, At everything but his heart we'll miss him

You don't want them... I'd give you a link but after 4 days of trying I'm still haven'y gotten 4.3.0 working and can't access my bookmarks at the moment. I'd wait until you see some [SOLVED] posts on this list BTW fonts.cache... was keeping SuSEconfig from finishing. Well, after the episode with 2.4.20 and DRI today..I just said to hell with it and went back to 4.2.0 which works just fine and has drivers that work with DRI for my ATI Radeon. I'll just wait for 8.2 to see what they do about 4.3.0 and the rest. This is just my opinion. I don't have as much time as I use to test and report.. :/ -- Ben Rosenberg ---===---===---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org Tell me what you believe.. I'll tell you what you should see.
