Hi! I just converted from doing fido on warp 4.5 to doing it on SuSE 8.0. I already downloaded the SuSE specific rpms (golded, sqpack, hpt, fastlst, smapi, fidoconf) and installed them also. I created the directories using fidoinst... What now? I have the latest node- and pointlist in the nodelist dir. Who has this stuff set up? There is no REAL help on the web (at least I didn't find any- even with Google) Thank in advance! Later HG

I know, hard to find :( I use wtrgate as a tosser: http://fido.volta.ee/ but I have used the husky software as well At first get a mailer running, like Binkley: http://sourceforge.net/projects/btxe/ It can work without a nodelist I use fastlst as a nodelist compiler, can't remember where I got it, perhaps at www.apworks.com It compiles a version7 list that can be used by GoldED and Binkley Tossing mail depends on your setup. You have to try that four yourself I think. When you use the husky software, use the tparser program to check the configs until there are no error messages tossing mail: run hpt without parameters to see which command line parameters are available. Try to connect to the fido echo FIDOSOFT.HUSKY for more help about the husky software I use also ftrack, a kind of netmgr program There is a lot more to tell :-) but you have to find things for yourself also. But if you have questions, just ask greetings from the Netherlands, Kees
I do have more or less the same as you, only I had to compile them myself: I didn't find any fido rpms on the suse cds. Golded+, hpt, binkd and/or blinkeyterm xe... What problem do you have? There are some general linux echo in fido, and some specific, like the husky echo. Let me see: fidosoft.husky, linux, linux-unix_ftn, linux-user, linux_bbs... you may get ther help more specific to fido, I think. As for links, here go some: http://members.xoom.com/fidoesp/fidonet.htm http://oeonline.com/~garyg/maximus/index.html http://www.ctv.es/USERS/pbrufal/ http://www.tichy.de/" http://www.goldware.dk/ http://asa.i-connect.ru/ http://golded-plus.sourceforge.net http://r34linux.virtualave.net/ http://213.96.212.205/ http://www.rafastd.org/ http://www.nil.es/rpajares/ http://www.fidonet.org/ http://www.fidonews.org/ http://www.btxe.uue.org/ http://home.nrh.de/fido/ http://husky.physcip.uni-stuttgart.de/ http://sourceforge.net/project/ Some will be obsolete, some are in spanish; even in russian (they are quite active, I believe). -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson El 02.10.03 a las 18:07, Hans-Georg Lerdo escribió:
