Hi everyone, I have an old Austin laptop that I would like to install SuSE on. However, there is a big problem with installing SuSE on it - it doesn't have a CD-ROM drive. Is there any (fairly easy - i.e. not a several day project) way to copy the key files for basic installation, and maybe X on to diskette form?
If you have another desktop computer handy, with an ethernet card; AND if your laptop has PCMCIA ethernet card, you can install via NFS.

Hi,
You can try to install W95 (a minimum install) and have a partition on the HD, there you can copy the CD one and with a bootdisk for SuSE you can start the installation and formatting from that HD-partition. (hopefully).
Hope that helps.
PS: I've done such installations and it worked fine.
