I want to install Synaptic, which says I need to install xmlto first. xmlto and synaptic are already available as rpms for suse. xmlto is part if suse and synpatic you can get from the apt repository. Are you using apt ?? You should not have to compile anything. If you do a apt-get install synaptic it will find and install all of the necessary dependencies via rpm's. Bob S.
