What device file is a FireWire CF media reader?
Does anyone know what device file (/dev/whatever) a FireWire compact-flash reader would show up as? -- ---------------------------------------------------- Jonathan Wilson System Administrator Cedar Creek Software http://www.cedarcreeksoftware.com

I'm sorry, but i wouldn't know, I've got more or less a similar question, If you plug in a USB (or FireWire) device, how can you tell to which device it is linked without just assuming it will become /dev/usblp0 ?? Is there a way to retrace which usb device is linked to which device in the /dev/ directory ?? Grtz Dries Pruimboom -- <End of message>

I would suggest running tail -f /var/log/messages, and see what it says when you plug it in. I just recompiled my usb-storage module after patching it (with info from a search to get a scanlogic usb 2.5" drive enclosure working), and it told me it was installed to /dev/sda. It did say, though, in /ver/log/messages. Then, I ran fdisk -l to check out partitioning, which let me know how many partitions and what type, then mount and go. :-) -- Joe Morris New Tribes Mission Email Address: Joe_Morris@ntm.org Web Address: http://www.mydestiny.net/~joe_morris Registered Linux user 231871 God said, I AM that I AM.
