[opensuse] synaptic package manager on SuSe 11.3
I have been using SuSe since 5.* and 11.3 is great. Works like a charm. Have one suggestion to make it better. Install synaptic for package management. Synaptic is the GUI fot apt-get. Synaptic is the default for debian to manage *.deb packages but it can be used to manage rpm packages as in pclinuxos 2010. Works fine in pclinuxos. As an example, tried to install "partitionmanager" which is part of KDE. In synaptic, all you have to do on the cl is: # apt-get update # apt-get install partitionmanager and it is installed with all the depedencies. Thanks for a great distro. jozien -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Naaa. When in Suse, do as the susanians do: zypper refresh (not needed, it is automatic) zypper install partitionmanager - -- Cheers, Carlos E. It is not synaptic, dude.
Graphical package manager Synaptic is a graphical package management tool based on GTK+ and APT. Synaptic enables you to install, upgrade and remove software packages in a user friendly way. You must be confused with synaptics which is for touch pads on laptops. jozien -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

openSUSE use YaST as graphical package manager, and more. Give YaST a chance, it's a nice tool!! -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I thought that apt4rpm had died out a few years ago. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
