After a while I got "File limit size exeeded". Where did that come from? Neither one of the systems has a limit of 2GB...
Maybe whatever (cp, dd, cpio, rsync etc.) you used to copy the file with had a limit?
You probably just need to specify the "lfs" (large file support) on the smbmount "-o" options.

I had this same problem with large files under 8.1; i. e., the copy would just quit at app. 2 gig. So, I just started ftping the files instead to the samba share instead. Earlier today I tried mounting that samba share adding the lfs option you mention and was able to copy a 7 Gig file to it with a basic "cp /root/xyz /sambashare/xyz" copy with no problem. Assuming nothing has changed since I last tried a file that was that large, that lfs option must have done the trick! Greg Wallace
