Has anyone gotten Konqueror to play realplayer files ? Specifically I can't get the ones at http://abcnews.go.com/sections/us/video_index/video_index.html to run. It probably has something to do with Java but I haven't been able to get any other realplayer link to work either. Thanks, Rob
Hi! If you try to goto shockwave.com, it won't even let you onto the site because you don't use an approved OS. Yet shockwave is certainly supported by linux. In fact if you go directly to the radiskull and devil doll web page you see there are links to directly let you play the movies if you have linux. Has anyone found a way to get around the morons who put up the shockwave.com webpage? Thanks, Matt. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Nope, they do server side queries of your browser and it ident's your OS..if you tell Konqueror to ident itself as IE5 under Win98..you get in no problem. It's their servers. We should get together a petition to let them know what a bunch of morons they are. -- Ben Rosenberg mailto:ben@whack.org ----- If two men agree on everything, you can be sure that only one of them is doing the thinking.

Where? How? I find no menu options, keytraps or help articles that describe how to set Konqueror to ident itself as any other browser. JLK

The petition is a very good idea, but we should get it organised in a way that it can be send to other sites too, Here, in Belgium, a LOT of sites are not open to Linux :-( Maybe something to put on the site/servers of linux.org? I CC'd the webmaster this message. [To webmaster@linux.org: "A lot of talk about websites that are inaccessible with Linux has been going arround here (on the suse-linux-e list) for some time now. Shockwave.com is just one of the latest. Regarding this issue, Ben Rosenberg brought up the idea of signing a petition. Because this concerns all users of all distributions, it would not be appropriate for this to be limited to one distribution, therefor I'm sending this to you. Is it possible for linux.org to host such a petition? Or do you know any organisation that can? Any help on your part would be appreciated."] Kind regards Guy Van Sanden

Yes; I routinely watch the BBC news and TV Deutsche Welle with Real Player 8 for Linux.
Specifically I can't get the ones at http://abcnews.go.com/sections/us/video_index/video_index.html to run.
This one worked for me; however there was no place to use the standard player; I had to use the one provided by ABC.
It probably has something to do with Java but I haven't been able to get any other realplayer link to work either.
Make sure Enable Java Globally, Enable JavaScript Globally, and Enable Plugins Globally are checked in your Konquereor Settings. -- Cheers, Jonathan

Which one was that? I didn't see any offerings..... Mine would work up until the speed offering, and would fail to pull real player after I clicked a speed. They work ok under Netscape, because the mime and plugin sh scripts installed the realplay.so and the realplayclass.zip in /home/jerry/.netscape/plugins ..
It probably has something to do with Java but I haven't been able to get any other realplayer link to work either.

I don't see any "Enable Plugins Globally" option, where is it?

What version of Konqueror do you have? I have 1.9.8, under KDE 2.0.1.
I've tried the files and was able to play them using Konqueror. I have realplayer 8 installed on my system with Netscape plugins installed. I am running SuSE 7.1, Kde 2.1.1 and kernel 2.4.0-4GB Eddie On Sunday 22 April 2001 19:00, Rob Lofland wrote:
