How do I setup serial port for com 4
Hi
I have a pci plug and play internal modem that works fine under windows using com4 but SuSe 8.1 does not see it as com 4 it tries to use com 2 and cannot talk to the modem, is there a way I can setup com4 ?

I havn't done that in awhile, but the last time I did it, it went like this. Make sure the bios settings for the com port don't conflict with it, and use the setserial command in boot.local. Read man setserial -- use Perl; #powerful programmable prestidigitation

Open the file "/etc/rc.d/boot.d/S01.setserial" with vi editor and uncomment the line "run_setserial /dev/ttyS3". You probably don't need to change the parameters; in this case: man setserial. Afterwards you may use the setserial command, adding the same parameters you have found in the previous file or you may restart your Linux box.
