Installing downloaded rpms
I'm running SuSE 10.0 Pro (not opensuse) and I want to install the rpms for OpenOffice2.0 now that I have downloaded them. How can I install them all at once as a group? It was easy with 9.3 because I would just use Red Carpet (Zenworks, or whatever they're calling it) and it had a handy "Install from file" feature that would allow me to select multiple rpms and install them in one run. Is there another way that I can do that in 10.0 now that they have excluded red carpet/zenworks? Thanks in advance Jack

Unpack the tar file. Then, in a terminal session as root, go into the directory with all the rpms in it and use either "yast -i openoffice*" or "rpm -i openoffice* --nodeps" to install. Then install the suse customized rpm.

1. Where did you download OOo 2_00 RPMs from? 2. Just add the directory in which the RPMs are to the installation sources in YaST and you should see them listed as blue (update available) entries in YaST software management. Shriramana.

The easiest is opening a terminal window, becoming root, and using rpm -Uvh *.rpm
You can also use yast: in Konqueror richt-click on the directory where your rpm's are, and choose: action > add directory to yast source. You can then use yast install software. You can also select multiple rpm files, right-click and choose actions > install with yast. Fx
