[SLE] how to get more vtty's?
Can anyone give me the steps to create 5 or 6 (total) vtty's? Or, do the following entries in /dev indicate that there are already 6 virtual ttys? 0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4 May 27 07:04 :0 -> tty0 0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4 May 27 07:04 :1 -> tty0 0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4 May 27 07:04 :2 -> tty0 0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4 May 27 07:04 :3 -> tty0 0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4 May 27 07:04 :4 -> tty0 0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4 May 27 07:04 :5 -> tty0 thanks, gary -- Gary D. You should already have them unless you took some away. Press ctrl-alt-f# from X-Windows, or alt-f# from the console where # is the number of the virtual console that you want. Check /etc/inittab for details. Victor Cardona On Fri, Oct 13, 2000 at 09:34:03PM -0700, Gary Kline wrote:

You're right; I do have the vtty's that I thought were missing. But say I want 8 or 10 or 12 of these entries. How would I make the entries in the /dev/* directory? Is there a HOWTO tutorial anywhere on this? gary -- Gary D. Try man mknod or info mknod for more information. You may also want to look at man 5 inittab for more information on adding them to your inittab file. Just remember that X-Windows (if you are running it) does require one virtual terminal. Victor Cardona On Sat, Oct 14, 2000 at 02:11:31PM -0700, Gary Kline wrote:
