Re: [SLE] java is good for windows but it is not for linux
I tried $ export JAVA_ROOT=/usr/lib/java ...then I checked to see whether it is working properly or not: adagilson@linux:~> echo $JAVA_ROOT /usr/lib/java But the same error continues to be shown: adagilson@linux:~>java -classpath Wapaka.jar:WPKScriptLibs.jar:WPKScript.jar:. Wapaka Unable to initialize threads: cannot find class java/lang/Thread So I closed the gnome terminal and opened again to check if the PATH was set effectively: adagilson@linux:~> echo $JAVA_ROOT ...the result was a blank line again as I hadn't tried to configure the path ever before. Always I come back to use export JAVA_ROOT=/usr/lib/java it won't have any effect at the next time when a terminal console will be open. Is there a way to fix it? Just typing export JAVA_ROOT=/usr/lib/java is not making the job. Something I am forgeting? Thanks for helping! a.
put following row to your .bashrc file under your home-directory..
export $JAVA_ROOT= /what/ever/location/the/root/has
(mine is
$JAVA_ROOT=/usr/lib/java2/j2sdk1.4.0_01)
the start new shell and test in it
echo $JAVA_ROOT
not that should be correct

Put: export JAVA_ROOT=/usr/lib/java in /etc/profile.local, then log out and log back in. Charles -- "People get annoyed when you try to debug them." -- Larry Wall (Open Sources, 1999 O'Reilly and Associates)

But of course! You only set teh variable for the terminal you were running, and nowhere else. You have to put it in some of the various files that are used during terminal setup or session setup... -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
