In SuSE 9.0 I have a very bothersome problem. Every time I doubleclick on OpenOfficeOrg file (when OOQS is running in background) I get my file opened and a new blank file [Untitled] created and opened. Does anyone know how to fix it? Alex.

Maybe you have to many parameters added to the file type: When I right click the OOo writer file on my desktop. select Edit File Type.. The command it executes here: "OOo-writer"...just as an example. BTW: why do you double click? jk -- Suse Linux 9.0 | 2.4.21-121-smp4G | KDE 3.1.4 | XFree86 v4.3.0.1

I have exactly the same configuration. Moreover, when the OO is started and I open any document from file browser the blanc document is created.

It's just a figure of speech :-)

Lets check your MIME setings and file associations fro OOo's Writer, as an example: KDE Control Center-> KDE Components->File Associations: Enter the file extension in 'Find file name pattern' field for Writer files: sxw. Below that it will show the Application Preference Order. * How many applications are listed there? (In mine its only one) * Click the edit button and the third tab: does it *only* show the command: 'OOo-writer'. The other (useful) modes to fire up OO in depending on file extension: (test them with a Alt-F2 dialog) OO-calc OO-impress OO-draw OO-math OO-web ..might be helpful..for the other file extensions... *) I originally had the same problem, and I think I executed OO with 'OOo-wrapper' -- that added parameter is wrong since it means to launch OO with an empty "shell" so to speak..and might be the issue.. Maybe this helps.. jk -- Suse Linux 9.0 | 2.4.21-121-smp4G | KDE 3.1.4 | XFree86 v4.3.0.1
Alex - I had this problem, though I'm not actually running OpenOffice Quickstarter. It happened to me when I had, say, one OpenOffice text document loaded in OOo on the screen, then tried to load another one by clicking in Konqueror. It happens because KDE associates each type of OpenOffice.org file with a particular OpenOffice.org component. For example, sxw files are associated with "OpenOffice.org Writer". You can see this if you right-click on an OpenOffice.org file and choose "edit file type" from the pop-up menu. I think you'll fix your problem if you "edit file type" for each of the OpenOffice file extensions. Make each extension (sxw, sxc, sxi etc) associate with just OpenOffice itself - not with any particular part of it. It worked for me. Best wishes - Ken On Tuesday 18 November 2003 7:48 pm, Alex Khroustalev wrote:
