Has anyone got the new packman 10.1 update working on amd 64? It really is miserable using Firefox without it. The 32 bit version just flies in comparison. Steve.

Since it is only recommended to use the 32 bit firefox with a 64 bit system, I have only installed the 32 bit version. Little is gained with 64 bit, but many things are lost. -- Joe Morris Registered Linux user 231871

I really don't know how to just install the 32 bit version. The update broke the original install which I assume was 32 bit which worked fine. zen broke the plugin. The spinoff with amd 64 as a server cannot be overstressed. I really should not be having to use it in graphics mode but pressures of availability of resources becomes a great issue in meagre funded environments like mine. Steve.

Just fire up yast software management (if you have your installation sources setup to also use packman), search for mplayerplug-in, go to the versions tab, check on the i586 version, then right click on the checkmark and choose update, and yast will install it. I actually have the 32 bit mplayerplug-in and 64 bit mplayer installed. BTW, as far as I have found, you will have to use the graphical version of Yast to be able to choose the version, as the ncurses version does not have the option to choose which version to install. -- Joe Morris Registered Linux user 231871

Thanks Joe. Excellent explanation. Got it running again. Steve.
