[opensuse] num lock and scroll lock
Howdy, I just recently purchased a new laptop, and I have noticed that there is no num lock LED anywhere to indicate that that I have changed the numeric keypad to input numbers instead of the navigation keys. I was wondering, has anyone developed a kde widget that could be installed in the system tray that would indicate if the num lock has been activated? This would be very helpful, as I am constantly switching back and forth. The page up and page down keys are only on the numeric keypad, so in order to use them I have to turn the numbers off. I have noticed that a lot of laptops are removing this led indicator, so it seems that some kind of widget would be the perfect way to be helpful in this area. I've seen this: http://www.webupd8.org/2010/07/indicator-keylock-displays-keyboard.html I don't know if there is a kde compatible one or if you could even install it on Opensuse. I've also seen reference to plasma-widget-kbstate -- After all is said and done, more is said than done. -- _____________________________________ ---This space for rent--- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Brilliant. That's solved a problem that I'd reported as a bug with my Logitech K750 USB wireless keyboard. Since upgrading to oS 13.2, the Number keypad stopped working, however many times I toggled the NumLock key. I don't know if it was a KDE bug. Since installing LockKeysState QML widget, it's started working again. This keyboard also doesn't have indicator lights, which is why I installed the widget. Now that I have it and it works, I am finding that it is very helpful. However, though I have never needed to use scroll lock before, on this keyboard it turns out that scroll lock is also a somewhat useful feature. For example, in order for me to do the normal ctrl-shift-end combination, to select all the text from where my cursor is to the end of the document or page, I have to have scroll lock on. That is one of the features of this keyboard I have, and unfortunately I have to have scroll lock on in order to make it work. So, is there any any other plasmoid with a scroll lock indicator? This lock keys state plasmoid is good, but has num lock and caps lock only. -- George Box #1: 13.1 | KDE 4.12 | AMD Phenom IIX4 | 64 | 16GB Box #2: 13.1 | KDE 4.12 | AMD Athlon X3 | 64 | 4GB Laptop #1: 13.1 | KDE 4.12 | Core i7-2620M | 64 | 8GB Laptop #2: 13.2 | KDE 4.14 | Core i7-4710HQ | 64 | 16GB -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Never mind. It did install but said it failed. Perhaps it might look better if you used a single letter for each state and placed them horizontally, "CNS" for example. Are there symbols you could use? Uppercase for on and lowercase for off is good, but also keep the highlighted feature for the on state, as it makes it quick and easy to spot. -- George Box #1: 13.1 | KDE 4.12 | AMD Phenom IIX4 | 64 | 16GB Box #2: 13.1 | KDE 4.12 | AMD Athlon X3 | 64 | 4GB Laptop #1: 13.1 | KDE 4.12 | Core i7-2620M | 64 | 8GB Laptop #2: 13.2 | KDE 4.14 | Core i7-4710HQ | 64 | 16GB -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
