Hi, Trying to figure how to configure properly my adsl connection but having trouble. I hope someone on this list can help. I've a dual boot machine (Windows XP professional/ Suse 7.3 Pro). My machine serves as a gateway to the internet for the rest of the machines on my home network. For that I have two ethernet cards (both 3Com) routing between my internal network (192.168.0.x) and the internet. My ADSL modem is a Alcatel Speed Touch. In Windows the NIC connected to the the modem is configured as IP 10.0.0.1, subnet mask 255.0.0.0 and gateway 10.0.0.138. The NIC connected to the home network is configured as IP 192.168.0.1, subnet mask 255.255.255.0. I have ICS (Internet Connection Sharing), and firewall on. The protocol used by my ISP is PPPOE. In Windows everything runs fine. Not on Suse. Tried to configure the ADSL Yast2 module but I never get a connection. I'm trying to use Kinternet. Reading the Suse manuals that are included with 7.3 they refer to pppoed but I don't see that in /etc/init.d/, I only see smpppd. Can anyone help me with the this config ? Thanks in advance and happy holydays to all ./ luis oliveira

1. install rmpppd 2. in /etc/pppoed.conf Yast@ will do: " # ppp over ethernet # autogenerated for ADSL from SuSE YaST2 # the interface interface = "eth0" # user and password user = "user-id" # it is user ID smoetimes != e-mail-ID password = "*******" # dial on demand demand = "yes" idle = "3660" dns1 = "999.999.999.999" # insert your dns1 and dns2 dns2 = "999.999.999.999" 3. in /est/rc.dialout YaST2 will do, but: " ADSL_NAME_0="ADSL" ## !!! this one is setup by Yast2 as T-DSL or smethong ## chenged to ADSL ADSL_DEVICE_0="eth0" " And you are OK A Merry Christmas to all.
