[opensuse] 11.0 yast "lan" module broken after latest updates
Listmates, This is a strange one. After updates over the past week or so, I can no longer get to the "Network Devices" -> "Network Settings" configuration in yast. In the gui, I get the following error dialog: "Error while creating module lan" (28k) http://www.3111skyline.com/download/openSUSE_bugs/kde4/screenshots/yast-lan- broken.jpeg "yast2 --ncurses lan" gives the same error in konsole. What do I need to check to figure out why the yast lan module will not start? Thanks. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. What version...? Works for me on 11.2.. up-to-date. yast2-2.18.22-1.4.x86_64 -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Wow!, The new yast interface is kind of neat. I re-enabled factory-oss and updated yast and got a completely new interface where the right hand side scrolls through all of the modules and the left hand side just takes you to a heading in the right side just like a web page would do with id='x' tags. Oh well, after the update I can use the network settings again, but of no use, I can't change the network config in yast anymore because my wireless is controlled by networks manager. That's a F'ing joke. How in the heck are you supposed to change the module that your wireless uses now? That required yast in the past to choose between ath_pci, ath_5k or ath_9k. I guess your only choice is to switch to traditional ifup, change the card configuration, then change back. We will know when I reboot ;-) -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.
