[opensuse] OOo 2.4 works fine... OOo 3.1 doesn't
Hi all, OpenOffice 2.4 works fine: I can open a Word document containing tables and those are rendered correctly. After an online upgrade, which also upgraded OOo to 3.1, I cannot see the tables anymore... I believe this is a known bug in OO0 3.1, due to be fixed in 3.2. I got caught by it, as well :( Bob -- Registered Linux User #463880 FSFE Member #1300 GPG-FP: A6C1 457C 6DBA B13E 5524 F703 D12A FB79 926B 994E openSUSE 11.1, Kernel 2.6.27.21-0.1-default, KDE 4.2.4 Intel Core2 Quad Q9400 2.66GHz, 4GB DDR RAM, nVidia GeForce 9200GS -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

It looks like http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=102880 Also reported in the novell bugzilla as https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=512245 The fix will be included in the OOo-3.1.1-beta1 packages. They should be available within two weeks in the OOo:UNSTABLE repository in BS, see http://en.opensuse.org/Additional_YaST_Package_Repositories#OpenOffice.org_U... -- Best Regards, Petr Mladek software developer --------------------------------------------------------------------- SUSE LINUX, s. r. o. e-mail: pmladek@suse.cz Lihovarská 1060/12 tel: +420 284 028 952 190 00 Prague 9 fax: +420 284 028 951 Czech Republic http://www.suse.cz/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
Was wondering if there is a know fix for the numbering and bullet(s) in ooo 3.x not working correctly. On the majority of word doc's the numbered / bullet lists, when opened by ooo 3.x, formating is all off indents are wrong etc., basically the document is a total mess, however works fine in Word. Never had this issue in 2.4 This has become a major show stopper for our use of ooo 3.x, I hate the thought of having to go back to Microsoft products, but at this time they seem to be the only thing that works. Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance, Tony -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

It looks like the bug https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=497981 Unfortunately, it is still not fixed. In each case, it is a blocker for the OOo-3.1.1 release. -- Best Regards, Petr Mladek software developer --------------------------------------------------------------------- SUSE LINUX, s. r. o. e-mail: pmladek@suse.cz Lihovarská 1060/12 tel: +420 284 028 952 190 00 Prague 9 fax: +420 284 028 951 Czech Republic http://www.suse.cz/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Good news. The fix is actually ready and will be included in the OOo-3.1.1-beta1 build. It should be available in the OpenOffice.org:UNSTABLE reporistory [1] in the beginning of the following week. It happens (to my knowledge) when the table width crosses the page margin boundaries. If you narrow your tables, the page margins or both, so that the tables fit onto the page, the tables get visible again. Hope this helped. (It did, in my case) Best regards, rms -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Not really, as the .doc file was sent to me from a Windows user who wouldn't know how to adjust her table width. When viewed in OOo 3.1 the blank spaces don't show up as tables, so I can't adjust their properties here. But, thank you for the suggestion. Interestingly, KOffice wordprocessor opens the affected file and displays the tables and their contents without any difficulty. Interesting. That works. Martin, This is a known bug and should be in the process of getting fixed. The import of tables and "indention" got totally screwed up in oo3.0x and the versions to date of oo3.1x. It got to the point where I had to uninstall all openOffice 3X rpms and reinstall 2.4 just to be able to work with simple orders and letters. Thankfully this is being worked, or may even be fixed by now. I'll check and report back next time I'm on a box with 3.1 installed. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.
