I've been trying to make changes to my system via LILO, and now am unable to. If I run the boot configuration tool in YAST2 (SuSE 7.3), I get an error message "Can't update boot sector". If I run lilo from the command line, I get: Warning: device 0x0306 exceeds 1024 cylinder limit Use of the 'lba32' option may help on newer (EDD BIOS) systems Fatal: geo_comp_addr: Cylinder number is too big 1528 > 1024 Does anyone have any ideas? Why would 7.3 install correctly and work OK until now? Thanks, -ronc -- 8:14am up 7 days, 23:18, 1 user, load average: 0.07, 0.02, 0.00
I added lba32 option to lilo.conf and that solved the problem. Now I have that beautiful SuSE bootup screen again, which was something I was living without after doing a kernel upgrade. -ronc On Wednesday 12 June 2002 08:19 am, Ron Cordell wrote:

Does anyone have any ideas? Why would 7.3 install correctly and work OK until now?
