[opensuse] SAMBA problems after 11.3 => 11.4 upgrade
Lars, It's been too long since I troubleshot anything samba related. My clients can't access my newly upgraded server (yes its an upgrade to a year old version!). To keep track of this I create a bugzilla. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=751660 For now I just need basic troubleshooting advice I suspect. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it. Here or in the bugzilla. fyi: If possible I'd like to figure this out over the weekend. I'm finally back to this. Fighting other fires. I put info in the bugzilla, but to get it here: ========================== ## This works # smbclient //localhost/homes -U gaf Enter gaf's password: Domain=[NORCROSS] OS=[Unix] Server=[Samba 3.5.7-3.5.1-2573-SUSE-SL11.4-i386] smb: \> ## This doesn't # smbclient //localhost/data -U gaf Enter gaf's password: Domain=[NORCROSS] OS=[Unix] Server=[Samba 3.5.7-3.5.1-2573-SUSE-SL11.4-i386] tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED There is no AD involved. This is a simple workgroup, so the server is authenticating it's own requests. ========= I upgraded by repointing my repos to the 14.1 repos. Official repos only. No OBS devel projects. No packman, etc. Then I did a "zypper in zypper" followed by "zypper dup". Then a "zypper patch" just to ensure I got all the security updates. Have you tried turning off apparmor If that works do a search on samba and apparmor on this list for more info. -- Regards, Graham Smith -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Thanks for the thought, but no: Turning it off does not help. Greg -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Actually, I was testing only with smbclient this morning. It saw no improvement, but windows clients and mount -t cifs from oS 12.1 are apparently working fine. About to update bugzilla. This sounds like a Linux kermel CIFS issue. I passed it to Suresh who has the hat on for this.
For now I just need basic troubleshooting advice I suspect.
You got them via bugzilla. They're all also available from the main Samba page in the wiki. http://en.openSUSE.org/Samba has a dedicated section labeled 'Samba bug reporting and advanced debugging information'. As soon as you follow this link you also get instructions about 'Debugging cifs vfs client'
If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it. Here or in the bugzilla.
