I have been using compupic for a while now. Still in 8.1 tho. With what have you replaced it? Does it do all the same stuff. I use compupic primarily to see the thumbnails and then make them whole screen and move thru then one at a time with PgUp and PgDn.
Well, I don't do that much in the way of image manipulation these days, so I find that pixieplus (tho' I'm a gnome user mainly) and gqview fulfil most of my needs.Of course, there isn't much that will beat the Gimp for fiddling around with images. I'm sure I've heard that there's a linux port of ACDsee but I've never tried it. David -- Vah! Denuone Latine loquebar? Me ineptum. Interdum modo elabitur

I used compupic to sort through all of the icons and xpms.

Agree with Gimp and "xv" works well to enlarge/shrink.

You got PixiePlus to run in 8.2? How? I mean, I can get it to startup just fine, but the dialogue box that pops up to choose a different format to change a picture to is completely empty, and clicking the 'show all' button doesn't do anything either. I even tried installing it as a tarball and used checkinstall to install it...still no options to choose from to change the format. I got the same as you guys when I installed pixieplus 0.5.4 on my system a couple of months back. The strange thing is, out of a whim, I tried it again today and the list of file formats showed up!!! I don't know what have changed. If pixieplus doesn't work for you guys, an alternative is showimg: http://www.jalix.org/projects/showimg/ The latest version supports image conversion. find dups, filters. etc. Charles -- The nice thing about Windows is - It does not just crash, it displays a dialog box and lets you press 'OK' first. Thanks Charles, I too took a peek at Showimg and have now replaced pixieplus with that program. I have built an i686 rpm for SuSE 8.2, if anyone might like to check it out also. Just mail me privately, it is under 2mb, so possible to include in an email. Showimg has a much better look and feel to viewing and playing with graphics than did PixiePlus, I think. The developer on pixieplus is so off & on all the time, it's doubtful he will ever finish it or have it in a completely working state. In searching for a replacement, I found, from the recommendation of someone, "gthumb" as well. This is a very nice program, although it seems somewhat unfinished to me and click on "resize" and it takes a ride on the "crash train"! You can tell that Showimg is unfinished as it feels that way as well, but I didn't experience any problems with the program during my use. This program has a more polished feel & look to it, so be sure to give it a look. I am not sure how the features compare to the programs mentioned above, but I have been very pleased with gqview. *************************************************** Powered by SuSE Linux 8.0 Professional KDE 3.0.0 KMail 1.4 This is a Microsoft-free computer Bryan S. They don't compare since gqview is only an image viewer, collection organizer and dup finder without any builtin image manipulation functions. Charles -- The only "intuitive" interface is the nipple.
