I have had 3 of these boxes and have returned all 3 to Dell. I couldn't put any 32bit/33MHZ pci cards in slots 3 and 5. Have you added any cards to the box? SLot 1 being the only real 32bit 33MHZ slot. The next 4 slots are 32/64 bit 33MHZ slots on a separate pci bus right. My slot 3 is the second one of those. We could not get them to admit they had a problem so we sent them back. We believe they actually knew about the problem and may have it fixed in the "very newest" boxes and that they are "recycling" the older ones as new to unsuspecting customers to try and get rid of them. We won't buy any more boxes from Dell. If you are lucky, you aren't having the same problems as we. As for your specific error message I'm not sure and it's not the same "symptom" as we had. Good Luck and regards Mark
Hello Mark, Thank you for your considerations. I install RedHat 7.2 and everything works fine, then I think Dell must fixed (?) Thanks Pedro Tuesday, April 09, 2002, 10:35:11 AM, you wrote: MH> Pedro Lineu Orso wrote:

Oh one other thing I forgot to mention that may be your problem. They deliver this bos with an IDE cdrom connected to a narrow single ended scsi-bus and have modified the bios to make the system see it as IDE. This will not work with SuSE. It ends up seeing it as an IDE FLOPPY. You should try using the "hdx=noprobe" "hdx=cdrom" command line boot parameters to see if it will work right. We ended up putting a real scsi cdrom in before you thought about trying these. It works for red-hat because all that stuff is in the kernel and not as modules. Mark
I will try. Many thanks for your help. Tuesday, April 09, 2002, 10:57:04 AM, you wrote: MH> Pedro Lineu Orso wrote:
