When playing any clip from www.youtube.com The video stream plays but there is no sound. Does anyone else have this problem or is there a problem in general with sound when using Flash Player 7? -- Ken Schneider UNIX since 1989, linux since 1994, SuSE since 1998 -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com

Haven't tried with other "Flash sites" as none come to mind of hand, any recommendations? Should have mentioned before that I am using SUSE 10.0 with latest updates. Also using Firefox. I also use a USB soundcard and there is _no_ sound sent to the device, there is an LED that flashes when sound is sent to the device so I can actually observe when data is sent there. I remember sound working when a greeting card was sent to me in the past that used flash and sound. If I try Mozilla I get a message that either Javascript is turned off (which it is not) or the version of flash I have is to old (it is the latest available).

Hi, there is a nice Flash site about samba, ideal for testing sound: http://www.orapois.com/br/arquivos/06162005170419937g.swf There are *lots* of Flash sites, just a Brazilian directory sample: http://br.dir.yahoo.com/Informatica/Multimidia/Flash_e_Shockwave/Animacao/
Should have mentioned before that I am using SUSE 10.0 with latest updates. Also using Firefox. I'm using Firefox 1.5.0.4. Have you an older version, like the 1.0.7? (anyway it should work?) It might be OK to reinstall the Flash Player plugin, no more from www.macromedia.com but from www.adobe.com
I also use a USB soundcard and there is _no_ sound sent to the device, there is an LED that flashes when sound is sent to the device so I can actually observe when data is sent there. It sounds more buggy than old. May be we should consider some trouble with the plugin itself, because i have Javascript disabled, and there is plenty of sound. May be there is a generic FAQ about "no sound in Flash" in the Adobe site...? Also read a potential fix here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=900474 Hope you'll get over this one. Cheers, PatrickM

Hi, there is a nice Flash site about samba, ideal for testing sound:
This worked but the site wasn't the problem. Since I'm using a USB sound card I never configured it in YaST as there was no need as it was picked automagically by HAL and configured. I went throught the configure thing in YaST, rebooted and now the sound is working with the flash player. Thanks for the help.

So now they are not picked up automatically by HAL? OK, at least it was just a Sound Card issue.
Thanks for the help.
Glad you can enjoy fully your sound :-) You're welcome Cheers, PatrickM
