Hi, I have compiled and installed custom compiled kernel. However, running mk_initrd created RAM disk ONLY for SuSE stock kernels, not for mine? Any idea waht I am missing? Thanks in advance. Andrei.

Did you look at mk_initrd -h? -k "kernel list" list of kernel images for which initrd files are created (relativ to boot_dir) defaults to "vmlinuz vmlinuz.suse" -i "initrd list" list of file names (relativ to boot_dir) for the initrd; position have match to "kernel list" defaults to "initrd initrd.suse" -m "module list" modules to include in initrd, defaults to INITRD_MODULES variable in /etc/rc.config So mk_initrd -k /boot/mykernel -i /boot/initrd.mykernel -m "module1 module2" is perhaps what you're looking for. -h, --help, -? and man is always the most logical first step when looking for help. regards Anders

mk_initrd -h Try with mk_initrd -k "name.of.your.new.kernel" -i "initrd.name.of.your.new.kernel" Henne -- Hendrik Vogelsang aka Henne mailto: hvogel@suse.de If you could be either God's worst enemy or nothing, which would you choose? # fightclub sigs made with fortune
Did you add a "initrd=" line under your custom kernel image entry? Andrei Verovski wrote:

Did you see this? http://sdb.suse.de/en/sdb/html/initrd.html "mk_initrd -h" will print a help text. It's just a shell script, so I don't think there is a man page. -- ======================================================= Glenn Holmer (gholmer@ameritech.net) ------------------------------------------------------- Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn. There is no man page, but you can find out just about anything yyou want to know by doing less /sbin/mk_initrd and reading the comments in the shell script. JDL Greek Geek wrote:
