I uninstalled the SuSE broken Mozilla package (8.1).
Then I installed the vanilla one from Mozilla.org. (Why the heck did Suse bother to break it in the first place, I dunno...)
We did not break it intentionally. It's just the fact that at the time of 8.1 there was no Java compiled with gcc 3.2 which we compiled the distribution with. So the incompatibility broke Java with Mozilla. Other distributions have/have had that problem as well.
Whats the latest on this? Is there Java available that is compiled with 3.2? Saw Ander's going through hell trying to compile from source awhile ago.
I heard some rumours there were actually a plugin compiled with gcc 3.2 available at sun.com. But I've not had chance to look into it.
Actually, was surprised how few things were broken when going to 3.2.
Well, there were some +800 applications that broke, but we ported/fixed all of them :-) -- Mads Martin Jørgensen, http://mmj.dk "Why make things difficult, when it is possible to make them cryptic and totally illogic, with just a little bit more effort?" -- A. P. J.
