Hi After upgrading from 9.3 to 10.0 KDM or X doesn't start at startup. Instead I get the text based login. I have checked the etc/sysconfig/displaymanager It says: |sysconfig/displaymanager## Path:Desktop/Display manager | |DISPLAYMANAGER="kdm" | |DISPLAYMANAGER_REMOTE_ACCESS="yes" | |DISPLAYMANAGER_ROOT_LOGIN_REMOTE="yes" | |DISPLAYMANAGER_STARTS_XSERVER="yes" | |DISPLAYMANAGER_XSERVER_TCP_PORT_6000_OPEN="no" | |KDM_SHUTDOWN="auto" | |KDM_USERS="" | |KDM_GREETSTRING="" | |DISPLAYMANAGER_AUTOLOGIN="" | |DISPLAYMANAGER_PASSWORD_LESS_LOGIN="no" | |DISPLAYMANAGER_KDM_THEME="SUSE" Have I missed something? -- Regards Kenneth Aar

Inspect "/var/log/Xorg.0.log" for clues to the malfunction. Randall Schulz

Thanks Randall. Ok. I have now skimmed through the log file. After checking Google for what to look for. I can't see any error just some warnings. But I can't say I am any wiser as to how to solve this problem. Here is the file: http://min.virkelighet.net/?Xorg.0.log&print Could anyone please take a look and see if they can see anything wrong. And if so, tell me what I should do? -- Regards Kenneth Aar

There's nothing wrong there. You really didn't say much about what's happening. What run level are you using? What does your monitor look like when the system is up and running? You said that KDM or X don't start. Are you sure? If that were so, then there'd be no (current) output in /var/log/XOrg.0.log. If you're seeing a virtual console (text only), type ALT+F7 to access the virtual screen on which the X server should be running. Randall Schulz

Did a complete install (wiped harddisk and installed afresh instead of upgrading). Works like a charm now. -- Regards Kenneth Aar
