I have a problem with my wifes system which is always starting in run-level 3, I have checked tetting in /etc/inittab and the default run level appears as: id:5:initdefault: It used to boot up to runlevel 5 and show the KDE logon, however a recent reboot came up to level 3. I can login as root, change to level 5 and the KDE login comes up and she can proceed. Any advice would be appreciated as to where I can look to resolve this, I thought that the only place was Inittab, but it appears that I still have a lot to learn. My guess is that it may be starting up in level 5, but failing. Check file /var/log/boot.msg for clues.

The only other place I can think is keyboard entry during boot. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson

I will check it out when I can get access to it. <snip>
The only other place I can think is keyboard entry during boot.
