[opensuse] Some crazy suggestions for Desktop Effect
Hi all, I've been exploring beryl and it looks very promising. Lots of effects. I'd like to share some ideas that I think will be very cool: 1. The ability to use movie/animation as wallpaper. I believe vista has done this. 2. When we view the rotating cube, there is a virtual aquarium inside of the cube. 3. The burn effect is very cool. Would be cooler if an active window can be burned all the time too. 4. Related accompanying sound effects for all the visual effects will give superb sensation. 5. The ability to open certain applications just by "moving" the mouse pointer in certain movement. Something like when magician moving his magic wand. Lots of crazy things. But, that's all for today :) -- Fajar Priyanto | Reg'd Linux User #327841 | Linux tutorial http://linux2.arinet.org 6:17pm up 0:18, 2.6.18.2-34-default GNU/Linux Let's use OpenOffice. http://www.openoffice.org

We have got this since a long time, get xwinwrap app from here, and run coolbg in shell, xwinwrap allows you to use movies as wallpaper too: http://software.opensuse.org/download/X11:/XGL/
2. When we view the rotating cube, there is a virtual aquarium inside of the cube.
Not possible yet, run xwinwrap/coolbg atlantis
3. The burn effect is very cool. Would be cooler if an active window can be burned all the time too.
Use firepaint plugin to paint fire, will be available as soon as I get some time to package it.
4. Related accompanying sound effects for all the visual effects will give superb sensation.
Configure sound events (main-menu -> more application -> sound, should work, someone was working on sound plugin for compiz though, so may be we would get that too.
5. The ability to open certain applications just by "moving" the mouse pointer in certain movement. Something like when magician moving his magic wand.
It is called mousegesture plugin, it has been around for some time, not on the packages though, you would need to get the tarball and compile yourself.
Lots of crazy things. But, that's all for today :)
Isn't it amazing all your ideas are already implemented ;) -J -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I'm shock! But very very happy :) I'll post an update here after trying all those plugins. -- Fajar Priyanto | Reg'd Linux User #327841 | Linux tutorial http://linux2.arinet.org 7:00pm up 1:01, 2.6.18.2-34-default GNU/Linux Let's use OpenOffice. http://www.openoffice.org

I have tested xwinwrap and coolbg. coolbg is easier to run, from terminal just run coolbg, and it will list all xscreensaver you have to play on the wallpaper. Cool. But xwinwrap is even cooler. It allows you to play any xscreensaver you have on the wallpaper but with more control such as transparency and nice level. The command is a bit non intuitive though (pls mind the wordwrap): xwinwrap -ni -o 0.6 -fs -s -st -sp -b -nf -- /usr/lib/xscreensaver/atlantis -window-id WID -delay 10000 xwinwrap -ni -argb -fs -s -st -sp -b -nf -- /usr/lib/xscreensaver/blocktube -window-id WID -delay 10000 xwinwrap -ni -argb -fs -s -st -sp -b -nf -- /usr/lib/xscreensaver/glmatrix -window-id WID -delay 10000 xwinwrap -ni -o 0.6 -fs -s -st -sp -b -nf -- mplayer -wid WID -quiet /usr/lib/xscreensaver/aurora8x6.wmv xwinwrap -ni -o 0.6 -fs -s -st -sp -b -nf -- mplayer -wid WID -quiet -loop 0 Bliss.wmv -- Fajar Priyanto | Reg'd Linux User #327841 | Linux tutorial http://linux2.arinet.org 11:35pm up 1:41, 2.6.18.2-34-default GNU/Linux Let's use OpenOffice. http://www.openoffice.org
