[opensuse] Black screen after update (leap 42.1)
Hi, I just updated my opensuse and now, I have a black screen before the session manager. I can only connect in text mode. What can I do? I have a NVIDIA vidéo card, in case it can help, and use the proprietary driver. The last kernel that works is: 4.1.27-24 The one that does not work is: 4.1.27-27 Regards, Frédéric -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Hi, I had the same problem. I solved it by trying to remove the nvidia-packages (via command-line yast), but that installed apparently new/other ones. It's running nice again. I think the new files are : nvidia-gfxG03-kmp-pv nvidia-uvm-gfxG03-kmp-pv Before they were -default in stead of -pv. No warranties though, YMMV. this is a known bug from latest nvidia driver. just switch to text-console ctrl-alt-f1 or to 2nd x-screen ctrl-alt-f8 and then back to standard x-screen ctrl-alt-f7, and then the normal login screen appears. -- Best Regards | Freundliche Grüße | Cordialement | Cordiali Saluti | *DI Rainer Klier* Research & Development, Technical Sales Consultant Namirial GmbH -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

download and install new beta driver 370.23 http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us#axzz41lNap91r it solves incompatibilities with kernel 4.7.0 and KDE plasma 5 (login screen only visible after switch to text-console). -- Best Regards | Freundliche Grüße | Cordialement | Cordiali Saluti | *DI Rainer Klier* Research & Development, Technical Sales Consultant Namirial GmbH -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
