When I run top to see my processes, I notice I have 1 zombied process, but I can't tell which one. How can I find this out? Thanks, Tom -- Tom Nielsen Neuro Logic Systems 805.389.5435 x18 www.neuro-logic.com

The STAT field will be 'Z' for the zombie process. You can use ps -efal | more and look for the S field to be Z I believe as well. -Jim-

try this instead of top: ps aux | grep " Z " "ps aux" will show all processes and then pipe the output through grep which will find lines containing the Z (zombie process state). check man ps for more features... regards, Hansen -- Powered by SuSE 8.1pro - KDE 3.0.3 - KMail 1.4.3 At least, try asking smart questions: http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html "Ich mache nie Voraussagen und werde das auch niemals tun." - Paul Gascoigne
