RE: [SLE] SuSE 8.0 connecting to Win2k network as samba client (S OLVED)
I solved the problem before getting this email, but this looks interesting. What I did was to use LinNeighborhood to create a logon script. I copied this to the desktop, now when I want to access the network drives, I just click on the desktop icon and it is done. The the method below, but think I was missing the -o option. Art,
From what I can remember the following will connect to a share on any windows box
mount -t smbfs //windowsserver/windowsshare /where you want to mount it on your linux box You may need to tweak it as it probably will ask for a password
Keith is correct! :) the tweaking would be through an option specified at the end of the command. "-o" = options --> mount -t smbfs //host/share /mntpoint -o username=bob, password=xyz or you can leave the password off and it will prompt you for one! This way, no one else on your machine can "ps -ef" and see your password! :) Travis Owens towens@linuxmds.com I'm out of my mind right now, but please feel free to leave a message. -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com
