Oh I see! It's ok for you ( a non-American ) to post such a rant on this list, but if I had done it ( as an American ) I'd be told to take it to [OT]. I see now how the double standard works for you. On Wed, Nov 05, 2003 at 10:38:12PM +0000, Terence McCarthy wrote:

Oh, an American reply. Enough said, I think.

On this I'd have to agree with Jim. Don't keep your nose so far in the air that you drown. No one is above reproach..not Europeans, Asians or Americans. So don't do that "typical" crap. Because for all that I have ranted about as far as what's wrong with the States..I still will look down on you if you start acting as if your culture is better when you don't know the culture you speak off..well accept through media and one political administration. Remember that there are 280 million people in the 50 States and not all of us are as Mads would say .."ugly Americans". And if you feel the need to keep this line open..then lets take it to the OT list and we can have a history lesson about America and Europe...and who's been a bigger bunch of shite disturbers throughout history. Cool. Sorry about the people... /end small rant. -- Ben Rosenberg ---===---===---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org ----- If two men agree on everything, you can be sure that only one of them is doing the thinking.

No one drowns in air, I believe.
No one is above reproach..not Europeans, Asians or Americans.
I didn't say we, or any or any other group, were.
So don't do that "typical" crap. Because for all that I have ranted about as far as what's wrong with the States..I still will look down on you if you start acting as if your culture is better when you don't know the culture you speak off
Ben, I'm speaking of my experiences with and about Americans and the States- you have your view that those who don't agree with you do (quote) "typical" crap."" But I'm not doing that bit at all- please re-read my mail. If you feel you should look down on me, please do. I won't be any shorter, and you won't be any taller.
..well accept through media and one political administration. Remember that there are 280 million people in the 50 States
So what? A dozen idiots = 1 wise man?
and not all of us are as Mads would say .."ugly Americans".
See previous comments- plus I never have, or likely ever will, use the expression "ugly Americans". If you feel you are, or feel that is the way you are perceived, please re-reread my mail. I have very positive experiences about my time serving with US forces, and both alone and with my family in the States. I love my children, but I still see their warts.
And if you feel the need to keep this line open..then lets take it to the OT list and we can have a history lesson about America and Europe...and who's been a bigger bunch of shite disturbers throughout history. Cool.
I didn't/don't feel the need to do anything other than to try and communicate honestly and openly. I don't like "My father's bigger than your father" arguments either. If you wish to continue, please mail me directly, and we can discuss our different views, without boring others (and perhaps even to our mutual benefit- who can tell?).
Sorry about the people... /end small rant.
Yes, and I'm sorry about this last bit too. Terence

In the future when you guys are ranting about whether something should go to the OT list anyway, please set Reply-To: like I did here. -- Mads Martin Joergensen, http://mmj.dk "Why make things difficult, when it is possible to make them cryptic and totally illogical, with just a little bit more effort?" -- A. In mutt, list-reply does not honor reply-to, but does honor mail-follopup-to, as this message should indicate. And I see that you are using mutt. -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org

I was curious, so I did a reply to list from evolution. As you see it ignored your reply-to entry and went to the original list.
