I am running SuSE 9.0 Kernel 2.4.21-166 Mozilla Firebird 0.6.1+ Problem 1. When I went to http://www.apple.com/hardware/video/virginiatech/virginiatech_480.html to see Virgina Tech's Supercomputer, I did not have the correct plug-in. When I looked for it at http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/index.html there were no options for Linux Users. Problem 2. On yahoo games I cannot play pool. When I tried to play pool I was told that I needed the appropriate java plugin. The site redirected me to http://wp.netscape.com/plugins/jvm.html to download Java 2 Plugin version 1.3 but every attempt is a failure. Please help with these issues. Thanks in advance. -=Thinker

I have yet to figure out why one would choose Firebird over Mozilla v 1.4, 1.5, or 1.6 Mozilla has done an excellent job of creating an integrated app that covers most needs. As I understand (misunderstand?) Firebird it is a partial shell to layer on top of other apps. It is nice but far less complete than the most recent versions of Mozilla. Try the complete Mozilla package and see if it does not solve your problems. IMHO, YMMV, HTH ... dmc

You need to track them down
faad2 not available
This is available on the packman site
lame not available
So is this
libfaad.so.0 not available libmp3lame.so.0 not available libxvidcore.so.2 not available MPlayer 0.92-4 conflict Unresolved Requirements: MPlayer requires w32codec
And this one
MPlayer requires lame MPlayer requires faad2 MPlayer requires libfaad.so.0 MPlayer requires libmp3lame.so.0 MPlayer requires libxvidcore.so.2 Conflict Resolution: ( ) Do Not Install MPlayer ( ) Ignore Conflict and Risk System Inconsistencies w32codec not available

They're all available from PackMan, alternatively, use APT, and that'll get them for you -- James Ogley, Webmaster, Rubber Turnip james@rubberturnip.org.uk http://www.rubberturnip.org.uk Jabber: riggwelter@myjabber.net Using Free Software since 1994, running GNU/Linux (SuSE 9.0) GNOME updates for SuSE: http://www.usr-local-bin.org

It's just apt if you use Bos script but if not then try adding a -get to the end of apt. :) apt-get install MPlayer-suite -- Ben Rosenberg ---===--- #147972 ---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org -- Why do we bother with a suicide watch when someone is on death row? Robert, Go to http://linux01.gwdg.de/apt4rpm/ and read the article then download and install. David

Thanks, but I'm not familiar with APT, is it similar to the Debian apt-get program? I can't seem to find suse-apt or apt on my system. -- Robert

Robert, Usually the dependencies are listed at the bottom of the page you get MPlayer from. Packman makes them easy to get too and if he is not listing them, as he did, then all are available from his site in different areas there. If Kongueror and/or Mozilla works with these sites, then you will need to copy the plugins from /opt/mozilla/lib/plugins to your Firebird plugins directory. It does not copy them automatically and Firebird does not come with any plugins of it's own. Firebird is lean and fast, but must be manually tweaked to work fully.
