SuSE package java-1_4_2-sun-plug-in by means of YaST2.
Is this another of those packages that are on the DVD but not the cd set? YaST doesn't find it on my CDs ...
I can't tell you, as I don't possess the 9.2 DVD. But if YaST can't find the package on tge CD set, this is probably the case. Anyway, you can download it easily enough, now that 9.2 is available via ftp. I have just seen the package at: ftp://suse.cs.utah.edu/pub/suse.com/suse/i386/9.2/suse/i586/java-1_4_2-sun-plugin-1.4.2.06-1.1.i586.rpm It's about 792 KB. Looking at the ftp directory I saw that there is also a java-1_4_2-sun-jdbc-1.4.2.06-1.1.i586.rpm package. So it seems as if the Java package from the standard install didn't include the JDBC database access functionality, either. So if you need it, better install that one, too. Makes me wonder why SuSE would split the Java distribution in several packages... Regards. -- Andreas Philipp Noema Ltda. Bogotá, D.C. - Colombia http://www.noemasol.com

It *is* on the DVD but I had missed it, and doing a Yast seach for 'Java' produces so many packages that its not easy finding the one you want in the six pages worth listing (in this case the sun-plug in) its easy when you know what you are looking for!) Why its not in the default heaven only knows.... I note that the FTP installer version of Java is 1.42.06 but the boxed DVD's is 1.42.05 and there appears to be no YOU patch to upgrade! Makes me wonder what else may be 'updated' on the FTP.... -- Tim Nicholson http://www.bbc.co.uk/ This e-mail (and any attachments) is confidential and may contain personal views which are not the views of the BBC unless specifically stated. Thanks Andreas, my local mirror isn't populated with 9.2 yet, and I didn't check others. Got the file now, thanks for your help Best Fergus
