[opensuse] Transmission Help
Im setting up a home media server and want to use Transmission to download torrents with via the web frontend. I need Transmission to start on bootup of openSuse 11.1 as a serverice/daemon and am wondering how to do it? I have installed Transmission via the packman rep through yast, but have no idea how to set it as a service/daemon. In openSUSE, the system services are started with scripts in /etc/init.d. In that folder is a template script, /etc/init.d/skeleton, that you can use to create your own service/daemon. The man page for init.d gives some background info about the boot concept in openSUSE -- Gruß Andreas Schlehahn -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Andreas suggestion of making a daemon using skeleton is very good. If you would like you could also create an rc.local style init script that will allow you to start scripts after services - this is a very handy feature in Red Hat and here is how to do it in Suse - note this is not the same as running it as a deamon really, but often it is very handy to have this method to start things too: http://lists4.suse.de/opensuse/2005-07/msg00937.html -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

ktorrent too can be used via a web interface. You need to activate the WebInterface plugin -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
