I'm trying to move my Samba server from RH8 (problems with HDD) to Suse 9.1. I copied configuration files, "got Samba to work". But when user logins to Win XP workstation (to domain), it says: ----- Windows did not load your roaming profile and is attempting to log you on with your local profile. Changes to the profile will not be copied to the server when you logoff. Windows did not load your profile because a server copy of the profile folder already exists that does not have the correct security. Either the current user or the Administrator's group must be the owner of the folder. Contact your network administrator. ----- And then it logins users, netowork drives are mapped nicely. And in server logfile there is: ----- Mar 14 18:39:08 tigger smbd[7628]: [2005/03/14 18:39:08, 0] rpc_server/srv_pipe.c:api_pipe_netsec_process(1371) Mar 14 18:39:08 tigger smbd[7628]: failed to decode PDU Mar 14 18:39:08 tigger smbd[7628]: [2005/03/14 18:39:08, 0] rpc_server/srv_pipe_hnd.c:process_request_pdu(605) Mar 14 18:39:08 tigger smbd[7628]: process_request_pdu: failed to do schannel processing. ----- Any suggestions? Well, actually it seems I didn't get Samba to work... I only tried to login from one XP machine. Taavi- This question would probably be better asked of the Samba list, which you can get into on at https://lists.samba.org/mailman/. The answer to your first question is that your profiles directory (listed in the "path" directive of your "[Profiles]" section) has the wrong permissions. It should be owned by root:root, and you should do a `chmod 1757 profiles` to set access privileges correctly. When I rejoined XP machine to domain, then it was possible to login to domain in that machine. But strange profile problems occured, like many profiles co-existed somehow.... But then I did update for Suse (including kernel and samba), and now yast and samba doesn't start. For samba it says: ----- starting Samba SMB daemon /usr/sbin/smbd: error while loading shared libraries: libpopt.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory startproc: exit status of parent of /usr/sbin/smbd: 127 ----- Under /usr/lib there was libpopt.so.1.... And for Yast it said in log files ----- 2005-03-16 19:04:27 <3> tigger(4629) [Interpreter] clients/online_update_start.ycp:402 Invalid bracket parameter for list 2005-03-16 19:04:27 <2> tigger(4629) [ui] YUI_bindings.cc(UICallHandler):581 No UI instance available yet! ----- Help me :)
