[opensuse] X weirdness in 10.2
Had a perfectly happy 10.2 box (dual 32 bit xenon's and a Nvida board)
running at 1280x1024 with XGL on and decided to catch up on patches -
used the Nvidia driver (NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-9629-pkg1.run)
After a shutdown and reboot the highest resolution I can get is
800x600 - no matter what it says in the xorg.conf file it still
displays at 800x600 (file below)
I hate X!
It can just drive you nuts!!!!
Thanks for any help!
Michael

That's why there is a saying in the IT world "If it ain't broken, don't fix it" Anyway, you can try adjusting the display again using sax2. And this time, make sure you CHANGE the hardware (screen) first to support 1280x1024, then LASTLY change the resolution to 1280x1024. Thanks!
Done all that - for whatever reason no matter how anything is set
the monitor still only displays 800x600 (see the xorg.conf file).

One additional note - I just used Yast - sax2 to change the monitor
and screen to 1280x1024, xorg.conf file below, and no matter what I
set it to the "Screen Resolution" tool in the control center says my
only choice is 800x600 at 50Hz.
This is wierd .........

Thanks but no, that doesn't appear to be the issue -
Take a look at this thread:
http://forums.suselinuxsupport.de/index.php?showtopic=51056&hl=800x600
It turns out that after I set the video aperature in the bios to the
amount of memory on my Nvidia video card all was fine. This is very,
very wierd!
Any explination why this worked will be appreciated.
Thanks!

Hm.

Not without logfiles (working/nonworking). And then this will be an educated guess...

VendorName is an informal option, and never ever actually used.
So it's irrelevant.
