no more graphical interface at start up
CONFIGURATION I have SuSE 8.0 (Gnome 1.4 and KDE 3.0) and I also have installed Ximian in my machine, a K6-II 500mhz 256ram PROBLEM It all was running fine, except by the desktop: sometimes KDE shows the desktop puzzled (some shadows of open programs used to remain on my screen) and the same had happen with Netscape and Mozilla on Gnome. "WHAT DID YOU DO?" As SuSE installed everything automatically, including my onboard graphic card, and I had a display driver for its onboard card (SiS 530) I make something questionable. I run a rpm command to install xsis.rpm. So, next time I rebooted the GUI didn't begin automatically, but just a prompt. Well yesterday I learned a lot about setting up SAX and XF86CONFIG :) KDE can run after being invoked at the prompt, but I should type manually "kde". GNOME not. THE QUESTION What should I do to restore my Ximian dialog box asking for user login at start up? Why does Gnome fail? thanks for any help a. PS-at least, "puzzled shadows at desktop is gonde". The KDE is very fine by now. -- Adagilson Batista Bispo da Silva Bibliotecário FIOCRUZ-Centro de Pesquisa Aggeu Magalhães Fone 81 3302-6524
