Hello list owners. I don;t know if this is a problem of my e-mail program (kmail), or a problem of the mailing list, but when I reply a e-mail, it appears to go to the sender, and not to the public list. Maybe it does, but if it doesn't, there is a lot of re's missing, I think An other list, whi I had joined receives all the mail on the list-email adress. Does anyone reconize this problem? As the list administrator of several majordomo lists I think I can answer your question. In general, mailing lists can be set up such that the reply goes back to the original sender of the post or it can be set up to reply back to the list. The rationale for having the reply go back to the original sender is to reduce the amount of responses back to the list when the intent is to go back to the sender. It is up to the list administrator how the list is to be configured. In previous debates on other lists, those lists with experienced users tend to prefer replies back to the original sender. Novice users tend to prefer the default reply back to the list. On 18 Aug 2000, at 16:23, Alex Risselada wrote:

This list was changed about a year ago to do exactly that, mainly because users mailboxes where bouncing messages which started causing severe mailing loops. Thus the decision was to change it so that you had to explicitly change the address yourself, thus guaranteeing that any bounces that occur, will bounce to the author rather then the list itself.
Some interesting reading on this subject.
