If you have the Switch and Hub chained together you will need a crossover or crossover port on either to make these devises communicate. Remember that similar devices, ie computers or switches need a crossover, and disimilar devices do not, ie a switch to a computer. If this is not the issue have a look at your Subnet range on the NY and Linux servers. Using it you can get the maximum performance of your network. Be carefull to connect both computers to the MDI-X ports of it, using straight cables, and not to the MDI-II port if any.
