Dear Hartmut, thanks. for me, Control "R" works perfectly in SuSE 8.0 . . . in SuSE 9.0 it just finds the first letter, but, not the string or regex one is seeking :( ~ I wondered if I need to set something in .bashrc ?? thanks & Frohliche Weihnachten + Gutes Neue Jahr -- best wishes, Richard, Aigina, Greece ____________ sent on Linux ____________

Can you give me one or more examples?

Not that I know of. I havn't touched anything anyway. Did you change anything? If so, does this problem exist only with one particular user or for all useres? Greetings from Bremen hartmut
