Anyone experiencing problems with kget? kget keeps on crashing here. It freeze when I add files, it freeze when it completes to download files, it says "kget is already running!" when I add files. To be able to download other things from konqi I've to: for i in `pidof kget`;do kill -15 $i;done and sometimes I'm forced to for i in `pidof kget`;do kill -9 $i;done I'm running last version of SUSE KDE rpm... this started to happen when I upgraded to KDE 3.2. Things didn't improve with newer SUSE KDE built.

Yes, I installed KDE 3.2 on SuSE 8.2, and I've experienced similar problems as you're describing. I haven't been able to solve them yet (I've used Mozilla to download files lately). Regards, Pieter Hulshoff

Strange, I wonder if this is a problem with the SuSE binaries. I compiled my KDE 3.2 from pristine source and have no problems with Kget. Charles -- Running Windows on a Pentium is like having a brand new Porsche but only be able to drive backwards with the handbrake on. (Unknown source)

Yep, it *may* be a solution. But I'd prefer to avoid it. Just to have a clue anyway which sources did you use? Last KDE snapshot? Last SuSE srpm? If you used last SuSE srpm how did you do it? I tried to compile SUSE's kdelibs3 but failed. I'm definitively not planning to use last KDE snapshot, if I was planning so I'd be using Gentoo... that actually could be an option for my "fun box".

At first the SuSE srpm's from ftp.kde.org (my KDE base system, ie aRts, kde-libs, kde-base is still that). I have upgraded the rest to their cvs versions.
If you used last SuSE srpm how did you do it? I tried to compile SUSE's kdelibs3 but failed.
What errors did you get? I have no problems.

Or just install it in another prefix. Charles -- "On a normal ascii line, the only safe condition to detect is a 'BREAK' - everything else having been assigned functions by Gnu EMACS." (By Tarl Neustaedter)

With SuSE srpm (kdebase and libs) some missing header.

Too much pain. Since it seems it is a common problem I think SuSE people will fix it. If I had to play compiling KDE when I've no interest in KDE programming I'd be using Gentoo. I hate over tweaking.

Yep, same here, some files try to connect forever, after you have d/l something, or even not, kget cannot be closed but hangs in there with some processes. There is also a thread in the German Suse List, so this seems to be a common problem for people using the rpms. Suse is recompiling them every few days but I am running the latest builds and still have the problem.
To be able to download other things from konqi I've to: for i in `pidof kget`;do kill -15 $i;done and sometimes I'm forced to for i in `pidof kget`;do kill -9 $i;done
For me STRG+ESC and and killing the kget processes is kind of easier.
I'm running last version of SUSE KDE rpm... this started to happen when I upgraded to KDE 3.2. Things didn't improve with newer SUSE KDE built.
Maybe one should report this via the feedback form to suse, as it might indeed be realted to the suse packages. Sven

Yes, I have the same problem here, but I don't know a solution yet. A workaround is to disable kget integration with konqueror until the problem is solved.
